Hunt Trips

Archery Elk

Archery Elk hunts are usually in mid-September. Elk hunts are 7 days, unless otherwise arranged. If you’ve never hunted elk in the rut, you may be missing one of the most awesome experiences a hunter can have. Having one of those majestic creatures bugling right in your face is something you will never forget. Seeing a bull at 400 yards away and working him to within bow range is truly something special. Northern Arizona is well known for its world-class bulls. This is your very best opportunity to harvest one of these beautiful animals. Archery is the fastest growing sport around. These tags are not easily obtained anymore. If you own a bow, put in for this hunt. If you don’t own a bow, buy one. You won’t regret it. Book this hunt early.

Rifle Elk

Rifle Elk hunts run anywhere from September to December, depending on the hunt. These hunts are 7 days, unless previous arrangements have been made. Since these hunts cover several months, weather is always a factor. We always adapt our hunting style to the hunter but lots of walking, riding, sitting and glassing are the norm. This is not an easy hunt. The elk have left their rutting area and have spread out. We have seen hunters go days without even seeing an elk. That is where we come in. We have been keeping an eye on them year round, so we are aware of their habits and where they move to. That bull you have been dreaming about is out there. Let us help you find it.

Cow Elk

Cow Elk hunts run from October to December. Hunts are 3 to 7 days. Just like the late bull hunts, cow hunts can be difficult. After the rut, they bunch up in large herds and can be difficult to find. Don’t take this hunt too lightly. You can easily spend an entire day just trying to find them. Archery hunts can be more difficult. Believe it or not, success rates are higher for bull hunts than cow hunts. Getting close is tough, but cow elk can be a lot of fun to hunt.

Rifle Mule Deer

Rifle Mule Deer hunts begin the last Friday in October. Hunts are 7 days, unless otherwise arranged. The mule deer population in Arizona is doing quite well right now but big bucks are not doing as well as they once were. Thirty inch and larger bucks are being taken yearly; however, 22 to 28 inch bucks are more common. This is by no means an easy hunt. Tons of glassing is the way to find the big ones. “Strip” hunts offer an opportunity to harvest a huge buck, but don’t be taken in by all of the hype about “40 inch bucks everywhere”. This is definitely a premier tag. Lots of homework goes into harvesting one of these giants. If you don’t have plenty of time to scout, be sure you get a guide who will spend weeks scouting for you.

Archery Mule Deer

There are two archery deer hunts. The first hunt usually starts in September and lasts about three weeks. The second, usually starts in mid-December and runs through January. These are 7-day hunts, unless otherwise arranged. This first hunt is a great way to get that buck still in the velvet and the weather is usually still beautiful. The December hunt can be on of the best times to hunt all year. A little snow on the ground can make it fantastic. Remember, this is a rut hunt. Those bucks you saw bedded down all day when you were hunting in October are going after one another right now and they really let their guard down.

Antelope hunts are in August for archery and September for rifle. Hunts are 7 days, unless otherwise arranged. Getting this tag is probably the toughest part of the whole experience. Antelope hunt success rates with a rifle are around 80%, Archery success rates are somewhat lower. Weather is not normally a factor during these hunts.

Traditional Camp Package

Our hunts are always customized to fit the need of individual hunters but basically our hunts run as follows:

The hunter meets their guide either in Seligman (or the town nearest to the hunt area) or at the campsite. Breakfast is the hunter’s choice. Some hunters prefer to sleep in and grab a quick continental style breakfast. Others would rather have a hot breakfast served before they leave camp. Sometimes it is possible to return to camp for a late breakfast.

Lunch is picnic style and usually served in the field. There is always plenty of food, snacks, and beverages to meet your needs. We typically hunt all day with a brief time-out for lunch and, if needed, a little nap. Dinner is served when you return to camp after dark.

A cook is on staff and in camp throughout the entire hunt. Menus are coordinated before the hunt to make your stay more enjoyable. After dinner, you can hang out by the campfire for dessert and share stories, or grab a hot shower.

Lodging is usually in your own tent, always warm and comfortable. On some hunts, travel trailers are utilized for shower and restroom facilities. Every effort is made to ensure that you have a pleasant and comfortable experience.

Seligman Package

Depending on where you are hunting, some hunters can choose this town package over the traditional Camp Hunt.

Lodging will be in your own private room at the Historic Route 66 Motel, Seligman’s nicest accommodations with 16 newly remodeled rooms. Transportation will be provided each day from your room to the hunt area.

Breakfast will be continental style and lunch will picnic style. Both will be served in the field. Again, plenty of snacks are always available.

After dark, you will be returned to town where your guide will take you to the Roadkill Café, Seligman’s finest dining establishment. Located just next door to your room, the Roadkill Café specializes in steaks and ribs but offers a wide selection, sure to please any appetite. A menu can be sent to you if you would like.

After dinner, you can slip into the OK Saloon, adjoining the restaurant, for some after dinner cocktails. Here we can plan the next day or swap hunting stories and “lies” with some of the locals.

We Can Accommodate Your Guests

Hunters are more than welcome to bring family or friends along. In most cases, guests can be accommodated for as little as $100 per day. (Payable by the number of days requested, not the day of harvest)

Hunts can be customized to include your guest in several capacities. Day trips can also be arranged.
